Black oil in jar of jalepenos?!?

I just bought a jar of jalapenos and when I went to open them, I noticed there is this black oil in there ...looks really gross. The jar hasnt been opened and it hasnt expired (wont expire for a few months). I read the ingridients and I see vinegar....would it do tihs?! help!
