Majoring in English Literature...?

I want to be a secondary English teacher. I love English it has always been my best and favorite subject. I also like reading and writing. So i was thinking of majoring in English or English Literature (maybe with a minor in journalism) and getting a teaching certificate. Is that okay? Or is it better to just major in secondary English education?
