How to fix jalapeno jelly?

I received jalapeno jelly as a gift from a family member, which I usually love. But this time, fresh out of the jar, it tastes like vinegar, and smells like feet... Instead of what I'm used to. Is there anyway to fix it now? I read that it was probably too much inthe vinegar to sugar ratio... But can it be fixed after the fact by adding sugar? Or anything?
