Iphone 3G Skype App Question?

Sometimes when I sign into Skype a red bar flashes at the top with the work skype in it.. it flashes for a few seconds then shuts off.. Why?!? Someone told me it means a live call is in process.. but Im not talking to someone? Does that mean someone on my list is perhaps is on a live call or do I have a bug?
