Jalapenos to control binging?

So people say that you should chug down a glass of water or have some fruit or vegetables to stop a binge but I LOVE fruits and vegetables so it always turns into eating massive amounts of fruits + vegetables then I binge becuase I just think "hell I already started binging." Anyway, recently when I feel a binge coming on I nibble on really hot salsa or jalapenos. I HATE spicy food and peppers so much and I soon find myself not wanting to binge any more. Is this a good strategy to control appetite?
