What should I plant in this space?

Do you suppose the iris and the veggies could co-habitate the same spot? I have tried this with Daffodils and peppers in the same bed. When the peppers are finished producing,I carefully remove the plants without disturbing the bulbs .The daffo's don't seem to mind it at all. I haven't tried Iris.
